Youth Music Project offers a variety of classes on guitar:
Does your child play a mean air-guitar? Do they want to be the next Hendrix or Van Halen? If so, Introduction to Guitar is the class that will make all of their shredding dreams come true! Beginners will learn the basics of rocking out by studying basic chords, rhythms and riffs as well as music concepts and guitar technique. Shredders will be able to showcase their fret-board skills at a final YMP performance.
Little ones love the guitar just as much as their big brothers and sisters, but little hands can have trouble positioning their fingers on even a small guitar. Enter the ukulele, which is easier and which is played with the same hand positions as guitar. YMP is offering this new class to give young beginners a fun and satisfying experience for learning how to play stringed instruments. Little rockers will strum their way to success, preparing to graduate to guitar or continue with ukulele in the future.
Let your child’s musical talent shine with the island sound of the ukulele. Students who have taken one 8 week term or have some experience playing ukulele are invited to join this class.
Do your children have less than a year of experience playing guitar? Have they taken a class at YMP before? If so, they can use this class to take it to the next level. Students enrolled in this course will learn harder songs and even more guitar techniques. Students will showcase their strumming and plucking at the final performance.
Been jamming out to rock, pop or country music on your guitar for over a year? Have you mastered the basics and are now ready to rock on a more intense level? Ready to play bar chords, harder chord progressions and play tougher riffs? Than you are welcome to join this intermediate guitar class. With up to six students, you will take your learning to the next level and rock it out. Each student is invited to participate in the recital at the end of the term.
