Battle of the Bands 2018

  • Battle of the Bands 2018 was a Smashing Success!

On June 1, 2018, Youth Music Project’s first annual Battle of the Bands was held with rave reviews. Local bands showcased their musical talent and showmanship and competed for prizes and glory. The 21+ event featured food, drinks (courtesy of our friends at HUB and Tito’s Vodka), and great local music — the packed Meteor Lounge full of audience members and judges cheered on each band. All proceeds from the Battle of the Bands support Youth Music Project’s afterschool music programs, which provide instruction to more than 1,500 students each year.

A massive thank you to all our sponsors for the Battle of the Bands: Moonstruck Chocolate Company, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Bellagios Pizza, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Ambient IT Solutions, 101.9 KINK FM, and Cracker Barrel Old Country Store! Special thanks to Columbia Sportswear, Guitar Center, and Dr. Martens Shoes. You made this wonderful event possible.

And finally, a tremendous thanks to our great Battle of the Bands judges! Rae Gordon (Rae Gordon Band), Erik Mertz (writer, editor, and DJ), Jason Deparrie-Turner (Heliorana Filmworks, Pavement), Jerimia Hybl (MIRP Magazine), Dave Scott (DJ, OMHOF board member), and J. Michael Kearsey (OMHOF board member)… you were all fantastic, and we hope you’re up for judging sometime again soon!

    Maybe next year?
