  • About Daniel:
Daniel is a jazz pianist who teaches guitar, bass, and piano at the Youth Music Project. Born in Tucson, Arizona, Daniel began playing music at a young age, and participated in jazz bands, symphonic orchestras, choirs, marching bands, garage bands, among other musical projects throughout his adolescence, performing on a variety of instruments. Moving past secondary education, Daniel went on to attend Reed College in Portland, studying music from a variety of perspectives and focusing on refining his piano abilities. As a jazz pianist, he has performed professionally for over 6 years, working in Tucson and Portland at cocktail parties, bars, and private functions providing entertainment, and currently studies with Grammy-Nominated pianist Randy Porter.

Perhaps most notably, in 2014, Daniel was a member of the Tucson Jazz Institute Ellington band, the band that would win the Essentially Ellington Competition in New York City—hosted by Wynton Marsalis at Lincoln Center—for several consecutive years. Apart from music, Daniel has had ample experience in childcare, working at a variety of daycares as a teacher, assistant, and music instructor. Currently, Daniel is located in Portland teaching music lessons, playing jazz piano gigs around town, and producing music for local artists.
