Kari Kohrmann

  • Kari Kohrmann comes to Youth Music Project with a background in Marketing and Graphic Design in the non-profit world. With a degree in Communication Studies, Kari began her professional career at Sacred Heart Community Service, a California-based non-profit determined to create a community free from poverty.

With the dream of living amongst the beautiful Douglas firs and majestic waterfalls of the Pacific Northwest shortly becoming a reality, Kari made the move to the Portland area. She worked for several local companies and non-profits, including Boys & Girls Aid and Special Olympics Oregon, further pursuing her passion working with underrepresented youth and adults in her community, and using design as vehicle for change.

Today, Kari is utilizing her background, passion and skills here at Youth Music Project. She not only creates the informational materials, manages the website and designs electronic communications, she also helps the public see what makes Youth Music Project so special: A 40% tuition free enrollment rate, a safe and supportive space, and a continued focus on high-quality music education.

Kari spent her childhood and teenage years advancing her piano skills, with some of her most cherished memories being at the piano bench with her grandfather, playing duets. As a new mother, Kari can already see the pure excitement that music brings to her son’s face. She can’t wait until the day they sit at the piano together, playing duets.
