NEW! Amp it Up: Live Sound Mixing (ages 13+)
Get ready to turn up the volume and master the art of live sound! This class is designed specifically for teens (ages 13-18) who are passionate about music and curious about what goes on behind the scenes at concerts, festivals, and live events. In this class students will gain hands-on experience and a solid understanding of the principles of live sound engineering, from setting up microphones to mixing a full band.
Topics covered in class:
- Set up a basic PA system.
- Properly mic instruments and vocals.
- Operate a mixing console with confidence.
- Apply basic audio effects and dynamics processing.
- Troubleshoot common live sound issues.
- Have a fundamental understanding of what it takes to be a live sound engineer!

NEW! Scoring Stories: Music and Sound for Media (Ages 10+)
In this collaborative, hands-on class, young musicians will step into the role of composer and sound designer as they create original scores and soundtracks for short films, games, animations, or other media they love. Students will choose a short piece of media (or be provided with one), then work in small teams to compose, perform, and produce all the music and sound effects that bring the visuals to life.
Along the way, they’ll explore the role of music in storytelling, experiment with sound design techniques, and learn how to match emotion, pacing, and tone through sound. Whether using traditional instruments, digital tools, or found objects, students will develop their creative voice while collaborating to produce a complete, media-ready soundtrack.
Prerequisites: Some previous experience on an instrument, basic computer navigation (mouse, keyboard)
Note: Students will have supervised access to the internet during class.

Beat Making and Composition
Learn to create music from ground up! Students will start with the fundamentals of sound, acoustics, and human perception of sound. Students will compose their own music incorporating many different concepts including beat-making. form, music theory, arranging, and mixing as they move through the process of learning the technology and tools of music production.This is an all-encompassing class designed to help students think about music creation from a wholistic perspective and understand the process and steps of manifesting a musical idea into a fully-formed composition!- Ages:10-18
