    About Our Class Levels

YMP’s Group Music Classes are offered by skill level, instrument, and age. Roots level is for students who are just beginning or who have a little bit of experience on their instrument but are still building the core skill set. Rockers level is for students who have more experience and can demonstrate their progress in mastering the core skill set. Our most experienced students are in Rollers level and have mastered the core skill set. Rollers are ready to test their skills and take the next steps to advancing their chops. Each level features classes grouped by age: 6-7 years, 8-12 years, 13-18 years and Adult. Seedlings are for our students aged 1-5 years.

    Seedlings: Preschool Classes (1-5 years)

If you’re between the ages of 1 to 5 years old, you are a Seedling and can join any of our Preschool Music + Art Classes!

    Roots: Building Core Skills (Beginning)

New to the instrument? Do you have some experience but are still building the core skills? Then Roots level is for you!
    Prerequisite: Few to none!

    Rockers: Mastering Core Skills (Intermediate)

Can you demonstrate the core skills/concepts from Roots series class but need a little more time to polish the edges while you continue to learn new skills? Then Rockers level is for you!
Prerequisite: One or more Roots level classes on your instrument, and/or teacher recommendation.

  • How it works:

Each of our levels are offered by term track (10 week sessions) and, in some cases, by year-long track. Year-long classes begin in the fall and run through both winter and spring terms with the same instructor, on the same day, at the same time throughout the year.  We have structured each class so that students will enjoy them as many times as necessary until they advance to the next level. Students will graduate to the following  level when they achieve skill benchmarks from the previous level and receive an instructor’s recommendation. Let the rocking begin!

Core Instruments = Piano, Drums, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Violin, Voice, Rock Band

Spotlight Classes = Instrument and interest specific offerings.

Custom Classes = Rock Bands, Music Clubs, Family Classes, Home School Groups, etc. (Requires minimum of 4 participants to register.)

  • Youth Music Project is a beautiful place.

The Meteor Lounge is the perfect venue for a live performance.

At the end of each 10 week term, we have a student concert!

  • The gift of music can change a child's life!
