  • What is your teaching philosophy?
I prefer a student-centered approach that is highly engaging and caters to the interests of the pupil, but is also rigorous and focused on developing literacy-based, comprehensive musicianship.

How long have you been teaching music? At YMP?
I am in my sixteenth year as a public school music educator and in my second year as an instructor at Youth Music Project.

What is your favorite thing about teaching music?
I get to work and play music with student musicians all day, everyday!  What could be better?

What do you expect of your students in classes/lessons?
I expect that students commit to putting forth their best effort, be persistent and patient with themselves and one another.  Learning music and/or an instrument is hard work and it takes time. However, being a dedicated student does pay-off and is very satisfying in the end.
