Field trips

Bring your students to Youth Music Project for an unforgettable Rock Band Experience!

Go one-on-one with an electric guitar, command a drum set, and compose your own keyboard solo. Write your own song lyrics and practice the moves of chart-topping singers. At the end, sing and dance in a mini-concert by our instructor rock band.

  • Students receive hands-on experience on a variety of instruments, along with ear training, rhythm, music theory, history, and some fun games. Each student strums a guitar or ukulele, plays rock beats on a drum set, and improvises on the piano. They also practice being a lead singer, dancing and writing their own lyrics to a classic rock song. At the end, the students rock out to a show by the instructor band!

  • Our instructors tailor the field trip for your group’s age and level, from advanced high school musicians down to first grade explorers. Please tell us about your students’ skill level and interests. Call us about adult opportunities.

  • Field trips are hosted on the Youth Music Project Campus:

Youth Music Project, 2015 8th Ave, West Linn, OR 97068

Programs are normally held on Thursdays or Fridays from 9:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Please contact us for more info!

  • Each session accommodates up to 24 students with five to eight chaperones. There are six pianos, six drum sets, and six guitars, so Youth Music Project Field Trips are limited to 24 students in four groups of size who rotate from room to room. Each small group must have an adult chaperone. Contact us for class sizes larger than 24.

  • 9:45 a.m: Students arrive at Youth Music Project, gather in the Oregon Music Hall of Fame lobby, and meet their host.

9:50 a.m. Orientation in the Meteor Lounge auditorium, and video of our song for the day.

10:00 a.m. Instrument Experience: Students spend 25 minutes with each instrument.
Everyone gets to go to all classes.

Group 1 starts in room 201 to play guitar.

Group 2 starts in room 202 for “Free Your Voice”.

Group 3 starts in room 203 to play keyboard.

Group 4 starts in room 109 to play drums.

11:45 a.m. Return to the Meteor Lounge for student comments, the rock concert, and a group photo.

    12:15 p.m. Students depart.
