LAUREN GUERIN

My teaching philosophy

My philosophy involves having fun with music, experimenting and discovering what you like to play. Playing games and staying engaged with the classroom material is essentail to my teaching style.

My favorite thing about teaching

My favorite thing about teaching is the first day of class, when every student is excited and a world of possibilities is open. The first day of class no matter what you study is always the most exciting.

It is an open space for all our fears, failures and satisfactions as people and I believe it is crucial for everyone to feel that sense of acomplishment.  I was young, was the first thing I enjoyed doing and I remember thinking I might as well just do this for my whole life. It is challenging but calming and one of the olny things I could ever do with my life. I just enjoy playing music.
