  • Mixtape of the Decades

    Mixtape of the Decades is an all-ages, virtual class exploring 100 years of American popular/rock music. In this class students will have opportunities to listen to, discuss, and play popular music from the 1920s early jazz and blues on up to the contemporary music we stream on our devices today. Students will see the evolution of rock and pop music and how musicians have inspired each other over time.

  • Movin’ and Groovin’ with Music

    How many of your favorite songs make you want to get up and dance around the room? Come boogie in a 30-minute energy-filled all-levels movement class. Learn simple choreography, rhythm basics, and easy stretches that get your heart-rate up and pumping for a positive day. At the end of the term, perform a choreographed group number with opportunities for self-expression and improvisation. Let’s increase confidence and coordination – and make fitness fun! This class meets 2 times per week for 30 minutes.

  • Pop Star Vocals

    Do you want to take your singing and performance skills to the next level? In this class, we will study iconic pop stars, from Bruno Mars to Ariana Grande, and how they successfully deliver a balance between proper vocal technique and their own unique singing style. Each week, we will study a different pop star and look at their discography, fashion, and stage presence to inspire us to develop our own.

  • Musical Theater Vocals

    Do you love musicals and dream of performing on Broadway? Do you sing along with your favorite Disney movies and want to delve into the world of story-based vocal performance? Musical Theater Vocal class is a place where kids have the opportunity to study vocal technique in musicals – learning songs from varying show genres, as well as discussing how to perform as a character through vocal shaping and acting on stage. Musical Theater students will perform 2–3 songs at the end of the term and have the chance to perform solos, make friends, and share their love for musical theater!

  • Community Show Choir

    Do you live for karaoke and dance parties? Do you still remember all the moves to your favorite teen dance movies? Come join our Community Show Choir! This is a space where collaboration and connection are cultivated. Learn a song or mash-up, create choreography and costumes, and record a final performance video. Warm up those jazz hands!

  • Musical STARters

    In this virtual class, 4-6 year-olds will move, groove, and sing in their own homes while they build their knowledge of music fundamentals like rhythm, tone, and ear training. Youth Music Project Instructors will lead singing, movement, and instrument exploration activities along with musical crafts and stories. Students will receive a weekly packet in the mail from Youth Music Project with materials for their class like songs and craft materials. Parent supervision is required.

  • Visualizing Music

    Make music videos! Let your imagination run free to create a visual story for your favorite music. In this virtual class students will have the opportunity to learn all the steps to plan, create and put together a full music video for a song of their choice using their own ideas, a phone or DSLR camera and the iMovie software. In 10 weeks, you’ll be able to create a story board, plan your video shoot, film your own video and learn to use iMovie to put all the pieces together. You got the music now let’s add some visuals to it! Students must have iMovie software to participate. No prior experience with instruments or iMovie software is needed to participate. Song choice can be an original piece or a song by their favorite artist.

  • Rhythm and Beats

    “We got the beat!” This energetic class is a great starting point for beginner musicians who want to rock out on the drums. In this class we’ll explore rhythm and beats with bucket drums. Students will need a 5-gallon, plastic bucket and drum sticks to participate. Rhythm and Beats focuses on the fundamentals of rhythmic comprehension, with a core understanding of meter, duration, and notation. Students will gain tools to internalize a song’s pulse, subdivide beats, and replicate rhythmic patterns with proper technique. Students will also develop a strong base of ear-training in rhythm and melody. These skills will support students in advancing to Drum Roots or Rock Band classes.

  • Beat-making Lab

    In this virtual class students will use Apple’s GarageBand software to explore and create beats. We’ll start with the basics and work our way through skills like beat mapping, using plug-ins, tracking, looping, recording, editing, mixing, and mastering. Students must have GarageBand software to participate. No prior experience with instruments or the GarageBand software is needed to participate.

  • Computer-based Recording

    Learn to use software like Apples’ GarageBand to create your own, original music, or to record covers of your favorite songs. Multi-track audio recording programs allow you to record real instruments such as a guitar, drums or vocals, or Software Instruments built into the program. You can also build a song from a collection of pre-recorded loops.

    Expected outcomes include:

    • Learning the basics of multi-track recording which can be transferred to other programs like Logic, Pro Tools and FL Studio in addition to using a mixer for live performances and recordings.
    • Creating original compositions or songs.
    • Arranging existing songs to create your own version.
